Say them to yourself without looking at the screen.
At lunchtime, say them to yourself again. Can you remember all three phrases?

Achilles' Heel

That company is able to spend money on research because they have deep pockets.

The phrase deep pockets is a funny way to say that a person or a company has a lot of money.
Brandon: "Emma, do you think our partner company has the funds to invest in this new project?"
Emma: "Don't worry, Brandon. They've got deep pockets."
*extra point: Often we refer to a company as "they," meaning all of the people who work in that company.

Prescription drug abuse

First check the patient's pulse-ox, then get an X-ray.

The phrase pulse-ox is a short way of saying "pulse-oxygen reading" We could use pulse-ox to mean the pulse-oxygen monitor, or the pulse-oxygen reading from the monitor.
"Put a pulse-ox on his finger." = put a pulse-oxygen monitor on his finger.
"What's his pulse-ox?" = tell me the patient's pulse-oxygen levels.

Just a quick question…

"Jacob, just a quick question: did Mr. Fernandez call back about the aircraft rental?"

This phrase is useful when you don't have time to write a formal message. You can use it with your coworkers or other people who you communicate with frequently. By starting with the person's name, you can write a one-sentence email or text message without being rude.
