They decided to leave after the show’s producers refused to pay them the same money as the other two stars, who are Caucasian. Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim, both of Korean descent, reportedly earned 10-15% less than the other main characters on the show, Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.

Health and Tech News

RFID microchips have been inserted in the skin of employees at a vending machine company. Three Square Market company in Wisconsin had about 50 of its 95 employees fitted with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips. The company claims that the chips will help employees to open doors and log into computers. The company operates vending machines in U.S. prisons. Ethical experts warn that the chips are in 24 hours every day, and blur the line between corporate control and personal privacy.

Explanation: The term “tear down” means to destroy something by pulling it down, usually with heavy machines. The past tense is “tore down.” A house can be torn down with a crane or other wrecking equipment. The phrase “tear down” is pronounced like “tare.” It is not the same as “tear”: 涙。

Explanation: The term “alleviate” means to make something better, or to make a problem lighter. We can alleviate pain, or alleviate a problem. It comes from ancient Latin, meaning to become lighter in weight.

Explanation: The phrase “working remotely” means that a person is working, but they are at a place away from the normal office. Working remotely is becoming more common now that employees can use various internet-based systems to communicate visually, by text, and by voice with their coworkers around the World.
