World’s longest rail tunnel The new Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) will link the Swiss city of Zurich with the Italian city of Milan by train in only 2 hours and 40 minutes. It will be one hour faster than the current mountain tunnel. It will help link Italy in southern Europe with major cities in Germany and other cities in northern Europe. The tunnel is 57 kilometers long, making it the longest rail tunnel in the world, surpassing the Japanese Seikan rail tunnel which is 53.9 kilometers long. The tunnel is expected to open in December 2016.

New Zealand follows Australia with cigarette package ban  The island country of New Zealand has passed new laws stipulating that cigarette packages cannot have advertising. They can only have plain paper and show health warnings. In 2012 Australia approved the “Plain Packaging Act” and similar laws are being considered by Canada, Singapore, Belgium, and South Africa. Tobacco companies such as Philip Morris and Japan Tobacco International have opposed the new laws.

Explanation: A “peak” means something is at the highest point. Your blood pressure could peak and then go back down. Or you could climb to the peak of a mountain.
