SampleGlobal Earth Hour was observed on March 19th.  Cities around the world turned off their lights for one hour in order to draw attention to Global heating and the need to reduce carbon emissions. The lights of the Sydney Opera House and the Eiffel Tower were turned off, along with the lights of thousands of other buildings. Many people gathered by simple candlelight in public places. There are several ways to participate in Earth Hour: turn off computers, TVs, and other devices; turn off lights and heating appliances; and prepare cold meals without using gas or electricity.
