SampleObama avoids 70-year Memorial of Hiroshima Last week marked 70 years since the U.S. army destroyed the city of Hiroshima with the World’s first atomic bomb attack. The ceremony at 8:15am, the moment of the bombing, was attended by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, U.S. ambassador to Tokyo Caroline Kennedy and a representative of the United Nations, but U.S. president Barack Obama stayed away. No serving U.S. president has ever visited the city. The bombing, which destroyed most of the hospitals in the city center, killed more than 100,000 people, including 50% of the city's doctors and 90% of the nurses.
