Contact lens wearers should be aware that the controlled air in the passenger cabin of an aircraft has very little humidity, and can cause eye irritation. Travel professionals recommend that contact lens wearers switch to eyeglasses when they board a plane. Also be aware that large liquid amounts of contact lens fluid will not be allowed on aircraft. Check with each airline before your fly regarding the amount of liquid allowed on each flight, as restrictions change often.

This week's Natural Phrase

make an effort

SampleDianne: I have a friend-of-a-friend visiting from Finland tomorrow. But I’m worried because he only speaks Finnish.

Walter: My cousin’s wife is Finnish. I could make an effort to contact her and ask if she can help.

Dianne: Could you do that? It would be great if she could help out.

Explanation: To “make an effort” to do something means to try to help, but it also means that there isn't a guarantee of success.
