Travel News Wire… In a continuation of problems for the new double-decker Airbus A380 jet, China Southern Airlines cancelled a Beijing-to-Shanghai flight using the A380, and instead put passengers on a pair of Airbus A330 aircraft instead. The Airbus A380 has had mechanical problems that forced several airlines, including Emirates and Qantas, to cancel flights or make emergency landings.

Achilles' Heel

Jacob:  "My neighbor's dog keeps barking all night. I couldn't sleep on Saturday or Sunday. If this continues, I'll call the police. I've had it!"
Emma: "You don't have to be so angry. Can't you just ask your neighbor to keep the dog inside at night?" 

The phrase "I've had it" means that the speaker is angry and doesn't have any more patience. "I've had it" is similar to "I'm fed up" or "I'm pissed off!" but the last one is a bit rude. You could say it with friends, but probably not with business colleagues.

 

 

Prescription drug abuse

Doctor: "Mrs. York, we see from our examination that you have a constellation of symptoms, including headaches, loss of balance, and dizziness. I'd like to check your inner ear."
The phrase "constellation of symptoms" means that there are a number of points that a patient can identify as symptoms. These are like constellations of stars in the sky that make a pattern.

scheduling conflict

Dear Mr. Sawyer:
I've received your invitation to the trade conference in February, but I won't be able to attend due to a scheduling conflict. I have to manage the opening of a new store in Taiwan during that week. Perhaps I could join you at next year's conference. 

The phrase "scheduling conflict" means that you have been asked to go to two events at the same time. So you will have to apologize for not attending one of the events.
